Kreston solution: lost profit assessment for a manufacturing company affected by war

Our client is an international manufacturing company specializing in the production and supply of industrial and medical gases (oxygen, nitrogen, CO₂, hydrogen), as well as engineering solutions for industry and healthcare. The company operates an extensive production and distribution network across Ukraine and serves key sectors including metallurgy, energy, healthcare, and construction.

Challenge: business losses caused by war

As a result of the full-scale war, the client faced complex losses, including damage and destruction of production assets, suspension of operations, loss of equipment, and disruption of logistics chains. Total direct damages exceeded UAH 380 million.

The key objective for Kreston Ukraine was to determine and document the amount of lost profits for further use in legal compensation procedures.

Kreston Ukraine solution: lost profit assessment

Our team conducted an independent lost profit assessment in accordance with International Valuation Standards (IVS 2025) and Ukrainian methodologies for war damage assessment approved by the State Property Fund and the Ministry of Economy.

What we did

  • analyzed the company’s financial statements for several years preceding the damage;
  • identified assets that lost their ability to generate income;
  • calculated lost profits for each asset individually;
  • considered different damage dates and impact periods;
  • developed a financial model incorporating time and risk factors;
  • consolidated results into a unified compensation assessment.

Project specifics

The project required deep analytical work due to:

  1. multi-location asset structure across Ukraine;
  2. different types of losses, from total destruction to partial damage;
  3. limited physical access to certain facilities;
  4. the need to separate war impact from market-related changes;
  5. changing demand structure across industries.

Result: compensation-focused reporting

Lost profits were calculated for each asset and location. A structured report suitable for court proceedings, international compensation mechanisms, and cooperation with legal advisors was prepared. The assessment established a clear link between asset damage and financial losses.
